This includes an interactive Electoral College map and a preset Google Trends search. Google also leverages some of its other services for this purpose: The primary audience seems to be K-12, but college-level uses can be imagined.

Australian Olympic Diver, Matthew Mitcham, made early news waves when he openly came out as a gay athlete coming into the 2008 Olympic Games. He now has done something historical. He is the first openly gay Olympian to garner the goal medal.

Umenyiora out for season with injured knee Osi Umenyiora suffered serious ligament damage in his left knee last night, and he will miss the entire 2008 season. That was the terrible news that the MRI revealed this morning, according to his agent, Tony Agnone. The injury is a torn MCL, according to a source, though it’s not immediately known if the tear is full or partial. A few months ago, when Rhiannon Agostinho tried looking for a group on Facebook where she could chat with people about the CBC and its happenings, she came up empty. So she started her own. Today, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation group is one of many of Facebook groups where thousands of fans gather. Rhiannon, an editor at CBC Newsworld, says the group was originally meant for CBC employes, but “Since then, other people have joined and given feedback which is great; I want more of that.”
