Charlotte, Asheville, most of western North Carolina, and Spartanburg, SC have been experiencing crippling gas shortages in the fallout from Hurricane Ike. Given the larger stories on the national scene, this has gotten almost no news coverage outside the state. This is a good update on the current situation. "Don't Panic" is the best advice.

Tropical Storm Kyle forms in Atlantic: NHC September 25th, 2008 SAN FRANCSICO (MarketWatch) — Tropical Storm Kyle has formed in the Atlantic Ocean about 645 miles south-southwest of Bermuda, the National Hurricane Center said late Thursday. Kyle, which has winds of about 45 miles an hour, is forecast to strengthen over the next few days. The storm is moving toward the north at about 8 miles an hour, the NHC said.
